Laser hair removal

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Far less than most people expect. The Soprano ICE Platinum heats the follicle gradually while cooling the skin surface, so most clients describe it as a warm massage rather than the snap of an elastic band. It's a different sensation to older laser and to IPL. You'll feel it for yourself in the complimentary trial before you commit to a course.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually six to ten, spaced according to your hair's growth cycle. Hair only responds while it's in an active growth phase, which is why one session can't do it and why the spacing matters. We map your full course at consultation and tell you the number before you pay anything.

Will it work on my skin tone?

Most likely yes. The Soprano ICE Platinum fires three wavelengths at once, which lets us treat a wider range of skin tones than single-wavelength machines — including deeper and olive skin that older lasers can't safely treat. Your suitability is assessed properly at consultation rather than assumed.

Should I shave or wax before my appointment?

Shave — don't wax. The laser targets pigment in the hair root, so the root needs to still be there. Shave the area the day before or the morning of your appointment. Stop waxing, plucking and epilating about four weeks before you start, and keep shaving between sessions as normal.

Do you treat men?

Yes, and it's our fastest-growing area. Backs, chests, shoulders and beard-line shaping are the most common. Same equipment, same private treatment room, same pricing.

I'm on medication — does that affect laser?

Sometimes, and it's worth telling us. Some medications increase your skin's sensitivity to light, which changes how — or whether — we treat you. Bring your list of medications to your consultation and our pharmacist will check it. That's not a service most clinics can offer, and it's the reason we ask. We also don't treat during pregnancy.

I don't know which facial I need. Where do I start?

Start with the Skin Discovery — it's complimentary for new clients and it exists precisely so you don't have to guess. You don't need to know whether you want a peel, a facial or needling. That's the decision we make together, once we can see what your skin is actually doing.

What is OBSERV skin analysis?

Imaging that photographs your skin under several light modes, showing hydration, pigmentation, congestion and sun damage sitting below the surface — none of which is visible in a mirror. You leave with a written treatment plan and a home routine. It's a $50 service, complimentary for new clients, and we re-scan at session six so you can see the change rather than take our word for it.

Is there downtime after a peel or needling?

It depends entirely on the treatment. Express and hydration facials have none — they're designed to fit a lunch break. Corrective peels and Dermapen needling do involve some redness and flaking, and how much depends on the strength we prescribe. We'll tell you exactly what to expect and when, before you book, so you can plan around anything in your diary.

Can I book a peel or needling straight away?

No — and that's deliberate. Peels and needling are prescribed from your Skin Discovery rather than picked off a list. The right strength for your skin barrier isn't something you can choose from a menu, and getting it wrong is how people end up worse than when they started.

Booking & payment

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. No card, no deposit, no obligation. For laser it includes a complimentary trial patch so you can feel the treatment before buying a course. For skin it includes OBSERV imaging and a written plan. You can walk out with the plan and think about it — that's a normal outcome, not an awkward one.

How can I pay?

Afterpay, Zip and Klarna are available, and you can pay per session rather than buying a package up front if you'd prefer. Packages work out cheaper per session, but there's no requirement to commit to one.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Give us at least 24 hours' notice and there's no charge — just call the clinic or use the link in your confirmation. Late cancellations and no-shows mean an appointment sits empty that someone else was waiting for, so we ask you to let us know as early as you can.

Will I see the same therapist each time?

Wherever possible, yes. We're a small team, and continuity matters for a treatment course — your therapist knows your settings, your skin's response and where you are in the plan. You can request a specific therapist when you book.
